CAFES | BARS | RESTAURANTS
By far the most popular entertainment complex in Glyfada which includes a pool and beachde bars and restaurants like The House Project, Balux Cafe, Bed by Balux, Balux Pool Seaside and Akanthus.
The beauty of this place
is that it's only a 10min walk from the apartment and you can spend the whole day there from
swimming at the beach or the pool in the morning all the way through to sunset cocktails at Balux Cafe followed by a delicious dinner at The House Project and a bit
of a boogie afterwards at Bed by Balux or Akanthus.
It's
super trendy which means that it might be a little pricey but I highly
recommend it for its stunning location, decoration and cocktails.
The
beach also very conveniently caters to families with their on and
off-shore activities like trampolines and children's playground.
Asteras Beach
is open from 8.30am until 8.00pm in the evening. On weekdays,
admission to the beach is 4 euros for adults and 3 euros for children.
On weekends, the price increases to 6 euros for adults and 4 euros for
children. The price includes the use of umbrellas, sunbeds, showers and
dressing rooms.
If you prefer the pool, then Balux Pool Seaside
is open from 9.30am until late in the evening. On weekdays, admission
is 8 euros from 10.30am until 4.30pm and 4 euros from 4.30pm until
6.30pm. On weekends, the price goes up to 10 euros all day long.

ZISSIMOPOULOU ST. & SUPERMARKET
Right
in the heart of Glyfada, this is probably the trendiest street in town
as it's lined with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants serving unique
cocktails, international cuisine and delicious desserts. You will be
hard pressed to find a seat anywhere on a Saturday night!
Some
of the cafes you will come across include the Hard Rock Cafe, Haagen
Dazs, Cafe Cafe, Chocolat (I would recommend the last two). There's
also a cinema, Cinepolis, and a supermarket (AB Vassilopoulos) around the corner for all
your needs.
Zissimopolou St. and the supermarket is a 5-min walk from the apartment and you will find it and the supermarket marked on the map enclosed below.

And a short taxi ride from Glyfada, you'll find...
The absolutely stunning bar/restaurants Vive Mar and Sea n' City. Vive Mar
is an all day bar and restaurant with the most magical views and for
me, truly one of the most beautiful locations to enjoy a drink. Definitely worth a visit if you have the time.
BEACHES
GLYFADA
As
well as the beaches and pools of the Asteras Glyfada Complex mentioned
above, there are also those that don't have an admission fee. These beaches run along the coast beside the Palmyra Beach hotel and they're marked on the map as 'Palmyra Beach' or placemark numero uno.
These beaches do not have any
amenities in the way of sunbeds or umbrellas (although they may have
some showers) but there are some great cafes scattered around which
serve drinks and light snacks. The coast is pebbly rather than sandy
and the water is perfectly clean and clear.
Glyfada Be
Every Thursday between 7am to 3pm there is a farmer's market in the centre of Glyfada selling food (fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, nuts, cheeses, olives etc), clothes and household goods at very reasonable prices. This is within a 15min walk from the apartment at Agiou Konstantinou St. near the main church. This is marked on the map with a shopping basket.
GLYFADA TRANSPORT
TAXI
It is generally very easy to find a taxi in Glyfada. There are taxi ranks at regular intervals through the highstreet and these are marked on the below map.
Useful numbers for English-speaking taxi companies:
210-9605605/6
2109961420
TRAM
The tram runs through the highstreet (Leoforos Dimarchou Metaxa St.) and there are stops at regular intervals clearly marked on the map. Tickets cost 1.45EUR and are valid for 1.5hours. It takes approximately 1 hour to get to the Centre along a very pleasant coastal route.
